Core CRM Pro is able to communicate with both QuickBooks Desktop editions and with QuickBooks Online services. In order to do so, however, either the FM Books Connector or FM Books Connector Online plug-in must be installed. This can be done during the first-time setup process or from the Core CRM Pro Preferences module at any time. Please note that FM Books Connector and QuickBooks Desktop are both Windows-only products and will only work on a Windows operating system. FM Books Connector Online and QuickBooks Online, however, can work on either Windows or Mac operating systems.
To install the plug-in from the Preferences module, open the Core CRM Pro preferences module and navigate to the “QuickBooks” tab. Then perform the following steps:
1) Check the box labeled “Check this box if you intend to integrate the solution with QuickBooks”
2) Choose whether to integrate with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online
3) If connecting to QuickBooks Desktop:
a. Click the “Install” button. You will be presented with a 10 second splash screen for the plug-in. This splash screen will go away once the plug-in is registered with a license purchased from Productive Computing, Inc.
b. You will be prompted to complete installation for the QB Bridge supporting application, which will allow support for communication between QuickBooks and 64-bit FileMaker. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the installation of the QB Bridge.
c. Enter in your purchased FM Books Connector license in the field labeled “License ID” or leave in the existing Demo license. If for some reason no Demo license is present, please contact Productive Computing, Inc., and we can provide you with a Demo license code.
d. Click the “Register” button. If a valid license was entered, you will be presented with a dialog that says you have successfully registered the plug-in.
e. Open QuickBooks and your company file.
f. Click the “Test Connection” button. This will attempt to connect your QuickBooks company file.
g. Open QuickBooks and follow the instructions to allow FM Books Connector to communicate with your company file.
h. Once allowed, the Core CRM Pro Preferences module will update to display details about the version of QuickBooks it has connected with.
4) If connecting to QuickBooks Online:
a. Click the “Install” button. You will be presented with a 10 second splash screen for the plug-in. This splash screen will go away once the plug-in is registered with a license purchased from Productive Computing, Inc.
b. Enter in your purchased FM Books Connector license in the field labeled “License ID” or leave in the existing Demo license. If for some reason no Demo license is present, please contact Productive Computing, Inc., and we can provide you with a Demo license code.
c. Click the “Register” button. If a valid license was entered, you will be presented with a dialog that says you have successfully registered the plug-in.
d. Click the “Test Connection” button. This will attempt to connect to your QuickBooks Online company.
e. Follow the instructions for logging into QuickBooks Online via the Intuit authentication site.
f. On Windows, copy the resulting session string from the FM Books Connector Online landing page and paste it into the dialog box that is presented by the Core CRM Pro. On Mac, this process is automatic, and you will be authenticated without needing to copy the session string.
g. If authentication was successful, the Core CRM Pro preferences will update to display details about the QuickBooks Online company it has connected to.
The Core CRM Pro is now connected to your QuickBooks company.
